Well, I am a licensed Cosmetologist/Instructor and have taught Nails for over 4 years. And first you should know that the link does not work anymore, so I could not see the kit that you are considering buying and using.

But, I have been in local Sally's here and they usually do not carry the better lines for acrylic nail products.

So just so you know that. The problem with some of the sub lines is that they are harder to work with and usually have a problem turning yellow.

You do get what you pay for when it comes to nail products.

Also, let me tell you, I have done my own acrylic nails for years. And it takes some major practice. It also helps to have a really good brush. Not some cheapy one, but a really nice nail brush. Otherwise, you will have a hard time controlling your acrylic.

You will have lumps in the beginning. Alot of lumps, big ones. So make sure you have plenty of files, as you will be filing forever.

And your smile lines (where the pink and white come together) are going to be way off for a while.

I would suggest practicing on some tips first to get the feel for the product.

And use clear on yourself at first so that you will not be unhappy with the pink and white.

When you practice on the tips, practice doing your smile lines.

And also work on NOT getting this stuff on your skin.

Not only is it hard to file on or super near the skin, but you can get an allergy or skin condition from it.

So practice, practice, practice before actually doing it on yourself.

Then go from there, and good luck!!!Have you ever done your own acrylic nails with a kit...??
Oh, yeah, my daughter wants to get this! I would be interested to know the price too! How would the price and trouble compare to just going to a salon and having it done?
Haha...yes, I did try to do my own acrylic nails once and it was a disaster. It was much more difficult than I thought. I will never do it again ! I found it to be much easier to just go to a tech and have her do them....just my experience, though. Good luck !!
Yes, I have and the only reason I knew how to do it because I've had it doen professionally before and saw what they were doing.

I actually did a really good job, it just took me too long the first time. After you get the hang of it, it shouldn't take you too long.

Just make sure that you follow the instructions provided and you should be fine.
ive done my own nails,it works ok, but i would suggest getting the initial set done professionally, then doing your own fills. i was able to do my fills pretty well, but when a nail brok and i tried to replace i, it looked a mess.

the kit i got was like 14.99 i think,

not from sallys but from another beauty supply store

Its 14 bucks and I want to know if it looks good or actually works! Thanks!

P.S: do u think this is better than getting glue on fake nails?Has anybody used the Dip Powder System by Kiss for nails? (Its a kit) is it any good?
i hate fake nails.... the one ur gonna buy is soo cuteHas anybody used the Dip Powder System by Kiss for nails? (Its a kit) is it any good?
its good,

but you have to use it right,

actually,

if i were you,

i would glue on fake nails,

and then cut it to how long you want the nails,

and put acrylic over top

its hard to put acrylic on,

its something professional cosmotologists learn in school.

I have an acrylic sculpture kit from Kiss, and I don't know how to use some of the nails.?

I know how to put on the french tips, and how to use the solution and powder . What I don't get however, is these other nails.. they're not clear..and they're not completely white. HELP? :( I don't get it. lol.I have an acrylic sculpture kit from Kiss, and I don't know how to use some of the nails.?
I think those are the natural tips and I saw a Youtube video yesterday tat used them and showed how to use them. I can't remember the link though. I think you apply them to your nail and file the edge between your nails and the tips and use the acrylic then paint over them. Good luck. I bought an acrylic kit from Sallys yesterday and did my own acrylics for the first time and they look pretty good today and took less than an hour to do and it's such a relief to not have my nails drilled into :shudder:

Good luck.

Gave my 8 year old a french using a sally hansen kit, her nails turned dark grey the next day.?

I bought the kit for me. I get my nails done in the salon, but this was for my toes. The overcoat polish was pearlized. My toes look good. My daughters nails looked good initially. She showed me one nail that had turned dark grey 24 hours later. Three hours after that, all her nails were grey. I removed the polish right away. Why did this happen?Gave my 8 year old a french using a sally hansen kit, her nails turned dark grey the next day.?
Allergic reaction! She may be alergic to nail polish, poor thing.Gave my 8 year old a french using a sally hansen kit, her nails turned dark grey the next day.?
A French manicure for an 8 year old? What were you thinking???

Stop playing ';house'; and ';beauty shop'; and start being a real mother. Let her be a little girl as long as you can. Kids grow up too fast, knowing too much.
8 year old girls should be more concerned about playing with other kids their age and not worrying about their nails
look on th back of the kit or nail polish. it might say that it is not intended for kids. if so, it could be too strong for her. you should take her to a manicure shop and have them look at it.
  • eye shadow
  • How do i apply the acrylics kit to my nails as a french manicure?

If it were me I'd go to a salon for a professional looking job...

What do i need to do my own acrylic nails and steps on how to do them? And I don鈥檛 wont to buy any kits?

Okay well I am 16 year old n i use to work. but then I got layed of since the economy is getting so bad so now I cant really afford to go get my nails done every 2 weeks so now I wont to go to sally's and buy every thing I need to start doing mi acrylic nails but I don鈥檛 know what I need n step on how and when to put it. So if u don鈥檛 mind telling me what I need?? When to put it?? How to put it?? And then I have one more question can I mix different kind of brands?? Like if I can get the liquid in one brand and then the powder from a different kind????What do i need to do my own acrylic nails and steps on how to do them? And I don鈥檛 wont to buy any kits?
The stuff that you would need to even start doing acrylics would cost about five times more than if you got them done professionally. And you don't need to get them done every two weeks. Every two weeks is when you need to get them filled. Not done completely over.
